Heads up: Ubuntu 9.10, errors with LWPx::ParanoidAgent and LWP::Debug

I've been getting this error message on my dev env, running 9.10, when I try to do something that connects to an outside website (such as importing icons):

"Undefined subroutine &LWP::Debug::debug called at /home/afuna/dw/cgi-bin/LWPx/ParanoidAgent.pm line 392. "

It looks like LWP::Debug was deprecated in the latest version of libwww-perl. Commenting out all the lines with LWP::Debug::debug and LWP::Debug::trace (in $LJHOME/cgi-bin/LWPx/ParanoidAgent.pm) makes things work again.

From what [staff profile] mark told me in a dev thread from way back (God I'm so out of touch, stupid life always popping up) DW isn't "ready" for 9.10. I rolled back to 9.04 and most of the peculiarities cleared away.

I also went from 32bit to 64bit server, that might have also contributed.

No worries! I think (thought?) that we were moving to 9.10 for dev servers though -- just not yet for production, so I'm trying to work through the issues on my own.

To bring up this old topic, I'd like to poing out that cgi-bin/LWPx/ParanoidAgent.pm should be removed and you should install LWPx::ParanoidAgent from CPAN as this version is much more up to date.
