LJ to DW upgrade

Hi

I am thinking about updating my lj-based website to dw. While deadjournal's walkthrough post in the wiki is pretty interresting. I had like to know if there are any other experiences about this.

Is it a safe thing to do and if not what are the possible migrating problems?

Also, this is more concerning my own case, but is it still possible to reference fotobilder in dw?

Thanks for any information and for your work on dw.

Fotobilder got ripped out of the DW code, although you could probably find where to put it back in from the patch doing so.

The problem with Fotobilder is that it is so crufty and awkward and bolted on the site like Frankenstein that it would be easier to just replace it entirely. I imagine DW is going to have media hosting probably not too long after [staff profile] mark starts working on DW full time on October 1st--it's one of his top priorities, but at his current job he hasn't had the time to work on it.

Possible migration problems I can think of are: how many people on your site use the S1 style system? They'd all have to start using S2 styles, and that might make some people displeased--you'll have to make sure to start warning people way ahead of time.

Yeah. Right now, migrating from an LJ install to DW is very much "buyer beware" as we haven't yet fleshed out the process. DeadJournal has been working on it actively, some other people have looked into it, and it's something we really want to support.

How big is the site you want to convert? And what is your timeline?
