testing account status

I'm having a strange problem on my dreamhack where I'm using the Beta Helper (htdocs/misc/beta) to try to change the paid status of test accounts. The changes are reflected on the Beta Helper page, but not on profile pages or in the shop. Did we change the way paid status is represented in the backend after the closed beta period ended?

What's the recommended way to change account status for testing purposes?

Also, if the Beta Helper tool is broken, should we fix it or remove it?

I wouldn't be surprised if we broke it after beta. It only directly edits the user caps, not puts in a proper row into the paid time table, yadda. Any checks with DW::Pay would probably fail -- only the get_user_cap checks would work.

Giving paid time to an account:

1) Make sure you have the 'payments' priv
2) Go to /admin/pay
3) Enter the username you want to make paid in the top box
4) from there it's kind of self-explanatory -- nice and simple!
