Question thread #113

It's over two weeks past time again for another question thread!

The rules:

- You may ask any dev-related question you have in a comment. (It doesn't even need to be about Dreamwidth, although if it involves a language/library/framework/database Dreamwidth doesn't use, you will probably get answers pointing that out and suggesting a better place to ask.)
- You may also answer any question, using the guidelines given in To Answer, Or Not To Answer and in this comment thread.

I am trying to edit wiki page (Dreamwidth API) add more info on old XML-RPC API, and about current status of upcoming REST API. And I am not able lo login.

So there are two issues:

  1. I'd like to be able to edit the wiki (it is wiki, is should be edited by all, after taking antispam measures). I have things to fix.

  2. There should be some clear rules available, who can get an account on the wiki, and how to do that. These rules should be available right from login page.

When I am trying to login, it accepts my open ID, and the offer only one option:

All users need a nickname; you can choose one from the options below.
Username and account choice
o An existing account on this wiki

And no other explanation what to do if you have no existing name. This is really bad it you expect DW-dev community to grow. New member involvement starts from small deeds. And this login problem may prevent the very first small deed from coming to live. So this is really important... It must not be edit for everyone, but there should be clear guide how to start editing...
