Question thread #97

It's time for another question thread!

The rules:

- You may ask any dev-related question you have in a comment. (It doesn't even need to be about Dreamwidth, although if it involves a language/library/framework/database Dreamwidth doesn't use, you will probably get answers pointing that out and suggesting a better place to ask.)
- You may also answer any question, using the guidelines given in To Answer, Or Not To Answer and in this comment thread.

My question is, what are some better places to ask questions? Specifically, I mean that I'm trying to put together some bookmarks of where to go (both to look for what other people have already tried and also to ask new questions myself) when I'm having problems with a particular language/library/framework/database. Not just "this is a site that exists that covers that topic", but "this is a site which I already know someone who uses (or is learning) that language/etc found helpful and is currently active." Including the most obvious suggestions, because for self-taught learners it's incredibly easy to miss something obvious.

Keeping this non-specific because I have hopes this might start a thread that'd be generally helpful, not just to me (although for what it's worth, the last two times this happened, the topics I needed help with were PHP and MySQL.)
