I was on the fence about going, since flying westward to Perth is like 48 hours of travel time with connections &c for me, but then I did a bit more research and if I go east out of IAD instead of BWI, I can get there in like 27 hours. Which is enough of a time saving effect to be worth the 2-3 hours it takes to get to IAD from here and missing out on the status-qualifying frequent flyer miles because none of my airline's codeshare partners does eastward to Perth, heh. (And, I mean, for me to give up status-qualifying miles is pretty major!)
