I find myself thrilled by this news, though it doesn't affect me directly. (Haven't done any work on DW, would like to but have way too much else on my plate.) Still, something just feels delightfully Right about this.
While it's not exactly the same, I'm reminded of my last full-time job. My first day, my boss said, "I don't know programming but I know how programmers are -- you need tools. Give me a list of what you need that we don't already have."

I'll probably never notice which bits work better or get implemented faster because of this, or who winds up doing more for DW because of a morale boost, but I'm dead certain these things will happen.
